The new workspace for Workshop17 at the Bank Building in Rosebank is a testing ground for emerging work patterns in response to the needs of a future workforce.

The 12 storey mixed use building, developed by Blend Properties and located in the heart of Rosebank combines retail, restaurants, hotel and two floors of shared work and event space for Workshop17.  With day and night activities, a work cafe, private offices, meeting and member lounges,  the building brings together integrated work, play and stay concepts into an inclusive environment.

While space typologies are being questioned, so too is the entire material palette for the workplace due to new hygiene standards and the availability of materials.  For the interior design of the Workshop17 space, the design response draws on the history of the existing structure.

A restrained colour palette of neutral yet warm earthy shades bring the colours of nature indoors and celebrate the existing sculptural forms of the building.  Quality, handcrafted unique pieces from local designers, supporting local manufacturing drives the decision making for the curation of the spaces. The overall colour and material palette allows one to focus on work in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

‘A scarcity of materials has forced us to think contextually and apply our mind locally which makes for a more considered approach to design and hopefully a better response to our industry.’
